A huge thank you to Clive Reid, patron of the AFB polo team, for his incredibly generous bid of £10,000 in our one-off, Princes’ Ground auction. This amazing sum ensures that Clive will be the first person to stick & ball on the Club’s impressive new high-goal ground and guarantees him a well-deserved place in this Club’s history.
Clive’s generosity will also ensure that Guards Polo Club can donate a substantial sum to two outstanding, local organisations – the brilliant nurses at Wexham Park Hospital and The Dash Charity, which is working 24/7 to help those suffering domestic abuse in the area. Sadly, in crisis like the current Coronavirus pandemic it is thought that domestic abuse increases by about 30%
.
The new ground is looking perfect and very ready to play and no doubt our Polo Manager, Antony Fanshawe, will be questioning Clive closely after the session to find out how this new ground, which has been out of action since 2018, plays. The Polo Office is planning to schedule competitive matches on The Princes’ Ground later this season.
A big thank you to everyone that took part in this unique auction, which ran over two weeks and to all those who have separately donated to this charity fund. If you would still like to support these two worthwhile causes please email James Neighbour at [email protected] with your proposed donation. We can take payments over the phone or can accept cheques*.
*To gift aid your charity donation you must be a UK taxpayer and that you understand that if you pay less Income Tax and/or Capital Gains Tax in the current tax year than the amount of Gift Aid claimed on your contribution it is your responsibility to pay any difference.
