Louisa Donovan's Los Alquimistas team dominated the Town & County Championship. Not only did they win all of their league games, but went on to capture the final 6-1. Played on the Club's prestigious Queen's Ground, the two-tone blue shirts proved too strong on Sunday afternoon for Mindi Byrne's Tex8n Polo. Unfortunately, Mindi's team had to play most of this match without two of her regular players - Nico San Roman and D'Artagnan Giercke - due to a clash of finals with another club.
Los Alquimistas's number two, Temur Nadeem, was named The Polo Magazine's Most Valuable Player, while team-mate Hamza Mawaz collected the Polo Times Best Playing pony prize for one of his string, Awaquate.
Chris Proserpi presented the prizes, making a welcome return to Guards Polo Club after some years. Chris remembers the first Town & County matches, some 30 odd years ago, as he was working the original sponsors and so was the perfect person to make this year's presentations.
Finals day for this competitive, club, 8-goal tournament, which this year attracted seven teams, started with a win for Thilo Sautter and Alejandro Penafiel's Leander/El Rosario team in the sub final. They beat Alan Fall's Mad Dogs 7-6 in a tighter game on the Princes' Ground.
