Guards Polo Club makes horse welfare a high priority and irrigates the playing fields to prevent horses from suffering injury during play. The Club is fortunate to have access to Virginia Water Lake, a very large private supply of non‐drinking water which enables the Club to continue some watering of the polo grounds during the current dry conditions.
The Club is very mindful of the need to conserve water, and has a detailed action plan in place to ensure that water is only used where necessary and is used as efficiently as possible. In light of the current weather, we are reducing the amount of irrigation time, and the quantity of water used. The irrigation plan is reviewed on a continuous basis.
