Guards Polo Club News Back
Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth ll 9th September 2022

The Vice Presidents, Chairman, Directors, Members, Players, Sponsors and Staff of Guards Polo Club are truly saddened to learn of the death of Her Majesty The Queen. We send our deepest condolences to Their Majesties The King and Queen Consort, Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Cornwall and Cambridge, and the wider Royal Family.

Her Majesty was a passionate supporter of polo, and the Club was honoured to host Her Majesty at Smith's Lawn on a regular basis since we were first founded in 1955 by her late husband, His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh. Guards Polo Club was privileged that Her Majesty took such a keen interest in the Club for more than six decades. Our beloved Monarch last attended polo here in July 2021, presenting the prizes at the Out-Sourcing Inc. Royal Windsor Cup Final.

The United Kingdom is now in a period of official mourning which includes the closing of Windsor Great Park for all commercial activity. So, all polo is now cancelled for the remainder of this season. We thank you in advance for your support at this difficult time.

The Chairman and Board of Directors will meet in the coming weeks to discuss how best to pay tribute to such an outstanding Monarch who did so much for polo in general and Guards Polo Club in particular.
