Talacrest, the world's number one classic Ferrari dealer, will sponsor Guards Polo Club's newest tournament, the 22-goal Prince of Wales's Championship Cup. This tournament, which makes its debut this summer, will offer polo at the highest level throughout the first three weeks of August.
Finals day on Sunday 22 August will deliver world-class polo plus an impressive array of classic and modern Ferraris as we have invited the Ferrari Owners Club of Great Britain to join us and Talacrest at Smith's Lawn.
Five 22-goal teams have entered to play on this first year and the addition of a top-level, high-goal tournament later in the season gives the world's best players some much needed competition in the UK in late summer.
John Collins, the founder of Talacrest, is a former high-goal player himself, successfully competing with his Talacrest Boxers, Everettnet and Symbolic teams. John said of this exciting new partnership: "I have been involved with polo at Guards Polo Club for more than 30 years and so am thrilled to be able to support the Club in his new high-goal competition. I know from first-hand experience of playing high-goal at Guards Polo Club that the opportunity for players to compete at the highest level on the best grounds is invaluable. If Talacrest's support can drive this tournament forward then I am honoured to put our name to the Prince of Wales's Championship Cup."
The tournament itself is named to honour HRH The Prince of Wales. His Royal Highness, himself a former high-goal player, offered his personal support for this new tournament. Brian Stein, the Club's Chairman said when announcing the launch of this tournament: "We are honoured to have the support of the Prince of Wales with regard to this tournament. He played much of his polo, including the high-goal, here at Guards Polo Club, including winning The Queen's Cup in 1986, and so it is wonderful that we can honour him in such an appropriate fashion."
