Guards Polo Club remembers a golden age of polo with the creation of the Club’s first India Day on Saturday 19 July 2025. Two outstanding matches, recalling a time when India was the globally- recognised heart of polo and enriched by the Club’s exciting new partnership with the world-famous Jaipur Polo Team, led by the Maharaja himself, HH Sawai Padmanabh Singh of Jaipur.
The morning game will be the final of the 18-goal Indian Polo Challenge Shield – a mighty trophy that dates back to the early 1920s. The afternoon’s match will see the Club relaunch the coveted Jaipur Trophy. This iconic horse was first presented to the Club in 1968 by the polo-playing Man Singh ll, HH The Maharaja of Jaipur from 1922 -1970. Following his death, his widow, the Rajmata of Jaipur, continued to support the trophy, attending matches at Guards Polo Club for almost four decades.
So join us to once again celebrate the wonderful sporting and cultural ties between these two great polo-playing nations. Searcys will create a memorable, Indian-inspired menu, befitting such an outstanding day of polo.
